For 2024, my plan is to work on a series of still life studies in order to rapidly improve my technique. I hope to improve my speed, values, and composition as I then will apply it to longer future works. Some elements of my style may emerge such as the melting eyeballs and that is okay. It is the consistency that will help me succeed.

I use Photoshop to map out colors - in this case the background and during my work I will then take a photo of the progress and Photoshop additional details I am thinking of. I also use chalk as well but Photoshop helps me see the final vision more clearly. I realized the flat green background was not a good look so I went in and decided to play with varying colors and a more textured look which in turn meant I had to end up redoing most of the leaves as I got a little loose with my brush strokes and covered a lot of them up in the process of doing the background again.

I also noticed the ghost’s eyes needed more love in terms of size and made them larger in my final iteration.

In terms of changing the name on the bottle:

1. I am always wary of copyright issues

2. Straight lines are hard

3. Allyson Grey is an artist I have always admired and she is big on a secret language in her art. I took that concept and used the Hyrulian font as a guide from the Legend of Zelda franchise as a means to reshape the letters.
